Nathan Braul loves being accountable to himself. The 18-year-old, Grade 12 student at Beamsville Secondary School is one of the top high school wrestlers in Niagara and enjoys the individual aspects of the sport. “It’s the only sport I’ve ever done where the more work, the better the feeling you get when you win,” Braul said Wednesday afternoon after scoring a win over Cyrus Gatta of St. Paul at the Niagara High School All-Star Dual Meet at Sir Winston Churchill. “There’s no better feeling then when you win and you know you’ve put in hours and hours of work.

 Beamsville District Secondary School was packed with women from all over the region for the seventh annual Beamsville Strawberry Festival Association’s Fundraiser. Featured on the bill were over 100 booths that were displayed in various rooms and levels throughout the cavernous facility that offered something for everyone. Whether it was browsing, retail therapy or just gleaning some information about local products and services… it was there. “We don’t even let the men in and we just have fun,” said Jane Gadsby, one of the coordinators of the event.

Spend the winter months learning something new.
The District School Board of Niagara is hosting walk-in registration for 32 evening courses — to be offered at Beamsville District Secondary School — on Monday, Jan. 30, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The school board is offering a wide array of evening courses including guitar, drama, computer, music, ballet, animation, traditional belly dance, men’s basketball, vocal, ukulele, volleyball, art, photography and fitness for children, teens and adults.
