A berry fair bonanza on Saturday

posted Jun 16, 2011 5:05 PM by Peter Beens   [ updated Jun 28, 2011 3:17 AM ]

After 33 years of celebrating the strawberry, fair organizers thought it was time to broaden horticultural horizons. So this year, the former Beamsville Strawberry Festival is now known as Berries and Blooms. Festival organizer Jane Gadsby said Saturday's rebranded event now features all things fruit and anything that blooms. "Strawberries is a very narrow focus," said Gadsby. "And we just wanted to include a lot more. "We're also keeping the berries, which keeps our history with the strawberries."

The free, 34th annual bash takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Beamsville District Secondary School.

Drive One 4 UR Community - Driven By Ford!

posted Apr 26, 2011 11:17 AM by Peter Beens   [ updated Jun 28, 2011 3:19 AM ]

We all know that there are many worthwhile community causes that are often underfunded. Charitable organizations, groups, teams, etc. are constantly looking for new ways to raise money to support their activities, and that’s where we step in.

Ford of Canada recognizes this need and, as an integral part of the community, has developed the Drive One 4 UR Community Program to connect dealers with local community efforts.

We will be hosting a Drive One 4 UR Community event here at Beamsville District Secondary School Saturday May 7th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The school's Interact Club will partner with the Rotary Club of Lincoln and Forbes Ford Sales to execute this exciting opportunity where test-driving a Ford vehicle can result in big cash rewards for the Partner's designated program -- a $20 donation for each test drive up to a maximum of $6000.

Let's all show our school spirit and come out and support this community event. Please see Mrs. Hoeg in the Guidance office or our Facebook page if you are interested.
